Now that’s fancy. The Czech national team entered the championship with an extremely important 2:0 win against Scotland, with Patrik Schick and Tomas Vaclik in particular.

The Scots came out in full force at the start of the game, picking up deflected balls and having optical pressure. The home atmosphere in the stands also helped.

After a few minutes, however, Jaroslav Šilhavy’s team settled down and managed to hold the ball more. Expectedly, it was more of a tactical battle, neither team wanted to make a mistake. We could see a lot of duels, neither player on the field wanted to let anything go.

In the 16th minute, Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges became calmer, Jankto pulled the ball down the left side, passed it to Patrik Schick on the penalty spot, whose shot was deflected by David Marshall.

Two minutes later, a similar opportunity came on the other side. Andy Robertson looked for Dykes in the box, who skipped over Kalas and his shot went just wide of the bar.

In the 31st minute, the Scots struck again. After a slight dip in the middle of the pitch, Robertson received a cross into the box, but his shot was parried out for a corner by Vaclik.

And just before half-time it came. In the 42nd minute, Vladimir Darida sent Vladimir Coufal in on the right side, whose millimetre centre found Patrik Schick, who sent the Czech Republic into the lead!

However, the Leverkusen striker did not have the last word yet. In the 52nd minute he scored the best goal of his career and probably of this championship. He found a deflected ball in the middle of the pitch and flicked it over goalkeeper Marshall. Perfect.

At the same time, Tomas Vaclik made some amazing saves for the Czech team. The former Sevilla goalkeeper silenced all the critics who didn’t believe in him.
