This is a big ride. Sixteen-year-old Jakub Mensik is in the final of the Junior Australian Open. In the semi-finals he knocked out Kilian Feldbausch of Switzerland after 6-1, 4-6 and 6-2 sets.

The Czech tennis player is showing fantastic performances in Melbourne. The great talent lost only two sets on his way to the Australian Open final, otherwise he is winning with complete ease.

In the semi-finals, the fourth seeded player faced the eleventh seeded player and it was as if Mensik wanted to show who would have the upper hand right from the start. In the first set he blew away Feldbausch 6-1 in just 26 minutes.

In the second set, the duel became more dramatic as the Swiss won 6-4. But the Czech youngster did not let it decide him, in the third set he took his opponent’s serve three times and after 6-1, 4-6 and 6-2 sets he reached the final of the Australian Open.

He can become the second Czech to win the first Grand Slam of the year. Jiri Vesely was the first to do so in 2011.

In the final, Mensik will face the top seeded player, American Bruno Kuzuhara. The duel is scheduled for Saturday at 2 a.m.
