This season is 11 races behind us and the official F1 website has come up with statistics comparing the constructors. Williams drivers have scored their first points in three years, extremely tied at the top of the Constructors’ Cup. Which teams did better than last year and who lost out?
Ferrari drivers and constructors made the biggest leap forward. The team from Maranello improved 83 points and 3 places on their position after 11 races last year. Currently, the red monoposts hold a split third place with McLaren.
McLaren is another team that is on an upward trend in points. The team, for which Lando Norris has been the main driver this year, has 163 points to its credit, moving 47 points ahead. The fight for third place among the teams will be very interesting.
Red Bull (80 points) has also made a big jump upwards, overtaking Mercedes, which is the team with the biggest loss (83 points). The team around Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez is thus chasing Mercedes, which, although it returned to the lead in the penultimate race, the fight is definitely not over yet.
For the first time since the 2018 race in Italy, Williams also got to the points. In a crazy race in Hungary, both Nicholas Latifi and George Russell drove to the points. A total of 10 points now means 8th place in the Constructors’ Cup ahead of Alfa Romeo and Haas.
With 12 races currently left in the season, the strength of each team has been on full display. The summer break will end this Friday with the first practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix. And we’ll be interested to see how the points standings compare at the end of the season.
