Maria Oliveira may not be one of the biggest stars, but at 26 years old she definitely still has the potential to make something of herself. But he will have to work on his approach. She was punished for it on Saturday night by her equally old opponent Diana Belbita.

UFC 289 had a lot to offer. Right out of the gate, we got a battle of two beauties. Diana Belbita fought again after more than a year, her opponent was Maria Oliveira. The former was a slight favorite, but her opponent was too confident.

Oliveira had known about the fight for a long time, but less than five weeks before the fight, during her preparation, she was extremely unprofessional. She was offered the chance to take part in the reality show A Grande Conquista by the Brazilian television station Record and accepted.

She even considered pulling out of the fight because of her participation in the show. But in the end, it was not necessary, as she dropped out after just one week. “I decided to take a chance. I knew the show was in two parts. If I didn’t get into the second one, I would have fought, and that’s what happened,” MMA Fighting quotes her as saying.

She had an offer a year ago, turned it down for the fight and lost the duel. Now, she believed that if the fight went the other way, she would come out victorious. She saw her participation in the show as a dream come true, she was confident against the Romanian native.

“I shot myself in the foot a bit, it meant less time to prepare, normally I have a two-month camp. It was a crazy decision that I don’t regret. Belbita is a very playable opponent for me. Of all the opponents in my division, she’s the one I see as very acceptable. I will win no matter what the circumstances are,” Oliveira added.

Just a mistake. Belbita put in an outstanding performance after a long layoff. The Romanian beauty was dominant in her stance, and was excellent even when the Brazilian tried to take her down and hold her there. You could see who had put everything into her preparation.

Oliveira can only hope that she doesn’t pay the price for her unprofessionalism. Belbita, on the other hand, picked up an important and valuable win, improving her record to 2-3 in the UFC. Oliveira is 1-3 for a change and it’s not looking good for her.
