In addition to the Formula 1 race weekend, there is also a Formula 3 side event at the circuit near Barcelona. On Friday afternoon, qualifying was on the agenda, and it was Czech Trident driver Roman Stanek who dominated! What does this mean for Saturday’s sprint and Sunday’s grand prix?

Roman Stanek achieved a great result in Friday’s qualifying, taking his first career pole position!

The native of Wallachian Meziříčí set the fastest time of all the drivers, namely 1:33.516. Victor Martins was second behind Staněk by just 52 thousandths of a second, while Alexander Smoljar finished third in qualifying.

Due to the F3 sporting regulations, this means that Stanek will start Saturday’s sprint from twelfth position, as the top half of the field will be reshuffled at the start of the sprint.

However, as far as Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix is concerned, Stanek will of course retain his first place from qualifying and will undoubtedly fight for the win.

But in addition to gaining his first career pole position, Stanek also scores two important championship points in the drivers’ championship standings.

It should be noted that although Formula 1 is running its sixth race of the season in Spain, this is only the third race weekend for the Formula 3 championship this year.

In any case, as far as Saturday’s sprint is concerned, the FIA has scheduled it to start at 11am. Sunday’s main race will start one hour earlier and we would like to remind you that Roman will start from the first position!
