Jablonec really surprised all the sceptics and absolutely destroyed Slovak Žilina 5:1 at home. Petr Rada’s team gave an excellent performance and if nothing unexpected happens in Slovakia, the North Czechs will play the group stage of the ECL.
Jabloneč team came into the match in full force. Already in the 10th minute, Václav Pilař found a centre and sent the ball to Miloš Kratochvíl, who had no problem to put the ball into the net.
12 minutes later the North Czechs were two goals up, this time Kratochvíl was the one who got through with a successful shot from the first.
What Petr Rada’s team touched fell into the net. Martin Doležal scored in the 41st minute and Jakub Považanec scored his team’s fourth goal in the first half.
An excellent half ended 4:0 and the fans at the Střelnice couldn’t believe their eyes. And it could have been even better, in the 56th minute Kratochvíl had a chance for a hat-trick, but missed the goal from a great chance.
And so came the penalty, in the 75th minute Taofiq Jibril reduced the deficit, giving his team at least some hope for the rematch.
However, they were again reduced by Jakub Martinec, a stopper from Jablonec, who scored with a header in the 90th minute. Jablonec held on to their lead and won 5:1.
It is now a short distance away from the group stage, which, thanks to Viktoria Plzeň’s win, could be the first time that four Czech teams will participate.
