Exactly one year since the contract upgrade! Coufal signs three-year contract with West Ham

Vladimír Coufal, currently the only Czech defender in the English Premier League, has agreed to sign an improved contract exactly one year after his transfer to West Ham. The new deal means that the 29-year-old will stay with the Hammers for another three years if he is not bought out.
Great news for Czech football fans and very important for West Ham! Vladimír Coufal has agreed with his employer on the terms of a new contract, which should be valid for another three seasons with a one-year option, according to the renowned server The Athletic.
Of course, the Ludgerovice native’s wages should also improve. The current one was reportedly £30,000 (nearly 900,000 crowns) a week, so he was one of the lowest earning members of Moyes’ squad.
West Ham acquired him on the day exactly a year ago, on October 2, 2020, when the entire transfer window was postponed after a coronary. Slavia paid €6m and it quickly became clear that such a purchase was indeed worthwhile.
Since his arrival at the London Stadium, Coufal has so far missed a single league game, playing exactly forty. He is still waiting for his first goal, but he has already made 8 assists and, above all, countless defensive saves.
Together with Tomas Soucek, he is described as one of the main factors in the rise of the team that surprised all Premier League fans last year by finishing 6th. So far this year, they are still very high.
What’s more, he ranks among the big favourites of the Hammers’ fans. Whether it’s because of how quickly he has settled in the English capital, how hardworking he is when he can be spotted on the training ground even on days off when others are resting, or how humble he is and doesn’t hesitate to use public transport.
It is not only Czech fans who have something to look forward to in the coming years when watching West Ham games.
