For Bereham, Thursday will be the early Christmas of 2022. The team from England’s fifth league travels to Everton’s ground in the FA Cup eight-final, where they will try to knock out another world-famous brand after Bournemouth.
Everton have been struggling since September and although the quality of their squad should be playing for cups, they are only 17th in the league table. They reached the FA Cup eighth-finals via second-tier Hull and then at the expense of Brentford.
Boreham Wood are in the National League, the fifth highest competition in England. They are fourth in the table and are fighting for promotion to Legue Two. On the way to the cup eight-finals they knocked out Eastleigh, St Albans, Wimbledon and Bournemouth.
Richarlison is the mainstay of the home side, the Brazilian international has scored five goals and assisted three times through all competitions. Summer signing Demarai Gray, author of six goals and three assists, has also put in a reliable performance.
Boreham is backed by Scott Boden’s goals, with the experienced striker netting ten times and adding one assist. Central midfielder Josh Rees, who grew up in Arsenal’s academy, boasts an identical record.
Everton’s situation is summed up by the fact that their players have lost five of their last seven games. The only triumphs came against Brentford in the FA Cup and against Leeds in the league.
The visitors, on the other hand, are floundering defensively, scoring just five goals in their last five games.
Considering the scoring form of the visitors and especially the quality of their players, I think Everton will win with a clean sheet.
