In the 22nd round of the English Premier League, Everton welcome a strong Arsenal side. The current league leaders will come to Liverpool to fight for another three points, this time against the penultimate team. Arsenal are in great form and would like to build on it.
Everton have been underperforming for a long time, so it can’t be surprising that this team is only in the penultimate place in the Premier League. Like last-placed Southampton, it has 15 points, only the scoreline moves it to 19th position. They need only 2 points to save themselves at the moment.
They will try to score against Arsenal, but the Toffees are not expecting anything easy. In fact, Everton have only recorded a single point from their last five league games for a draw. However, this point is very valuable as it was won against Manchester City (1-1).
The London Gunners are having a fantastic season, which has made them one of the title contenders. It looks like they will only face Manchester City for the overall championship in England this year, where they have a five-point lead and a game to spare.
Arsenal have dropped points only three times from 19 games played, twice in draws and once in defeat. Southampton (1::1) and Newcastle (0::0) managed to get a point against Arsenal. The only defeat for the Gunners was at Manchester United (1::3).
The great tactical work of coach Mikel Arteta on the pitch is always done fantastically by all the players, led by youngsters like Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Eddie Nketiah also puts in a good performance, filling in almost flawlessly for the injured Gabriel Jesus.
Arsenal have no shortage of skilful goal scorers, only three times in all competitions this season have they come up empty. They have the second best attack in the league, having already scored 45 goals.
Everton plan to play a cautious game with a cramped defence. The main challenge will be to not score goals, relying on quick counter attacks and believing that this is how Arsenal can turn things around like Manchester City.
Arsenal’s predatory youngsters, however, do not plan to come out shooting. Nketiah knows that the return of Jesus is imminent, so he would like to put on a show to keep his place in the starting line-up. Martinelli has extended his contract with the team, so he would definitely like to say thank you in the form of a goal scored.
In the Premier League last season, Everton managed to beat the Gunners once. On their own field they won 2: 1, but then suffered a heavy defeat in London 1: 5. Arsenal players definitely want to build on this win, moreover, the current form does not at all suggest that Everton can get three points against this team.
