Without a doubt, the biggest stir at the beginning of the championship was the collapse of Christian Eriksen, who survived only thanks to the quick help of doctors. The Danish footballer will now undergo surgery to implant a defibrillator.
Horror moments were experienced by fans during the European Championship match between Denmark and Finland when Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during the match.
Fortunately, doctors were called in time and thanks to their quick help, they managed to save Eriksen’s life.
Once it was clear that Eriksen’s condition was stable and that he was no longer in any serious danger, speculation immediately began about whether he would have to undergo any further surgery and whether he would ever play football again.
Now, news has come from the Danish team that Eriksen will undergo surgery to implant a defibrillator. “After Christian went through various heart tests, the decision was made that he should have a defibrillator. After heart failure, this device is necessary because of the heart arrhythmia,” said Danish team doctor Morten Boesen.
Boesen also added that Eriksen himself agreed with the solution. “Christian agreed to this solution. The international specialists who recommend this treatment also approve of the planned procedure.”
Although football is understandably on the back burner at the moment, it is still possible that Eriksen will still run out on the football pitches. For example, Dutchman Daley Blind is continuing his professional career after the same procedure.
But everything will depend on the doctors’ permission and, of course, on how the player himself feels.
