Erik the Hag finally cursed Ronald and voted him off the team. He commented on the situation on Instagram. How did he react?
We’ve seen several times this season that Cristiano Ronaldo can’t handle the fact that his best years are behind him and he’s behaving in a way that is undignified to his club. However, what he has shown this week has already been over the line and of course it carries consequences, which the Portuguese striker commented on his Instagram.
The whole issue kicked off this week in the match against Tottenham, which Manchester United managed to win 2-0. Only it was quite different for Ronaldo, who apparently didn’t like the fact that he didn’t get on the pitch and left the pitch alone shortly before the referee’s whistle.
This action of his was of course confronted immediately after the game by Erik ten Hag, who had to discuss the problem with the management instead of celebrating a great victory. The reaction came swift and decisive! And rightly so, no player can be bigger than the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the squad for Saturday’s league game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for the next game,” was the club’s official statement.
Ronaldo’s reaction
Then Ronaldo, who may have realised his inappropriate action, chimed in with three paragraphs. “All my career I have tried to live and play with respect for my colleagues and coaches. That hasn’t changed and neither have I. I’m the same person and the same professional I’ve been for the last 20 years,” he started his statement on his Instagram.
“Now I feel I have to work hard and support my teammates and be ready for any opportunity that comes my way. Soon we will be together again,” the five Ballon d’Or winner concluded.
What’s next?
Ronaldo has signed a contract at Old Trafford until the end of this season, but a few days ago there was already speculation in England that the 37-year-old striker wants to leave Manchester United in January.
This whole incident then suggests that. It is very reminiscent of the situation surrounding Neymar at PSG, who also wanted to force a transfer from PSG by his behaviour. However, we were not used to this with Ronaldo when he was actually behaving like a professional.
He just used to do that regularly, now the Hag is rightly letting him know that he will play when it’s convenient, when he’s just not at the level to be a number one striker anymore. And that’s what Ronaldo’s ego can’t seem to stomach.
It’s a shame that the Portuguese striker is tarnishing his reputation in this way and dragging down Manchester United, the club that bred him for greatness…
