Erik ten Hag: Onana has what it takes to be the best goalie in the world. He also praised Hojlund, rightfully so

Erik ten Hag’s side had to suffer their second home defeat in a row. Despite the appalling performance, especially defensively, the Dutch coach tried to look for positives.
After losing to Bayern Munich, Manchester United also lost a home game against Galatasaray, which does not put it in a good situation. And anything other than making the play-offs will be seen as a resounding failure. The Hag, however, doesn’t know his head!
“Everything is open. Every game is difficult, but we know what to do. We know what’s required of us. We have to keep our options open to get out of the group,” said the Dutch coach after the game.
There was one positive we could definitely find in Tuesday’s game. It is the performance of Rasmus Hojlund, who scored two goals and could have celebrated his first hat-trick if not for an offside.
“He had a very good performance. He scored two great goals, especially the second one when he used his strength. It was a great finish. The first one was a really good team goal, a counter attack with Casemiro and Rashford. So, yes, I’m very happy with his performance and I hope he will build on that.”
But otherwise, it was not easy for the Dutch coach to find other positives. “It’s frustrating because in the Champions League it’s not so easy to score goals, so you have to be more focused, stay together and make sure you don’t score so quickly. It’ s also to do with ball possession and control of the game and we need to improve on that,” he said in response to the fact that his charges conceded four minutes after both goals.
The defensive mistakes clearly cost the Red Devils the points that were clearly counted on. A lot of criticism came down on André Onana after the game, who did not make his first big mistake in recent days.
“We are happy with the goalkeepers, especially Onana. He was already in the semifinals once and last season he played in the final. He has the potential to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has shown it and he will show it again,” said Hag, his first choice in goal.
Manchester United have been performing well below their capabilities recently. A second home defeat, against weaker opponents, is a finger raised for all. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked for similar results.
