Erik ten Hag has been leading Manchester United as head coach since the summer of 2022. When he arrived, fans were promising him a return to the top of the English game. And so did the club’s management. So far, however, it hasn’t quite happened and the team is rather floundering under his leadership.
The Red Devils are not performing at their best, neither in terms of play nor results. They are now sixth in the Premier League, but after thirty rounds they have twelve defeats and are nine points behind the top five.
In addition, Manchester United have a negative record and they didn’t help themselves much with their last game when they lost to Chelsea of London after a crazy finish. And although the Blues were better all round, Erik ten Hag praised his charges.
But the fans are running out of patience and there is constant speculation in the media about whether the club will decide to make a change in the summer. After all, after so long, we should see some progress, but that is not happening.
Will Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag continue to lead Manchester United next season?
Erik ten Hag has already guided the Old Trafford side to 104 competitive games and he will be measured again on Sunday. Manchester United take on Liverpool in the North West derby and are not expected to win.
This is also the reason why the Dutch coach himself had to face questions about his future at a press conference. After all, it was not usual before that this derby had a clear favourite. Now it is, even though Liverpool will be playing away.
“I have no doubt that I will lead Manchester United next season. I will focus on my job and on the whole process in this project. I love it here, I enjoy being able to coach here. It’s a big challenge for me,” Erik ten Hag told Sky Sports.
“Itjust doesn’t always go to plan, you don’t always get the result you want to achieve, but I’m sure we’re going in the right direction and we’ll get to where we want to be,” he added.
