Enzo Maresca is unhappy with Mudryk’s performance. It’s like flipping a coin, he admitted. Chelsea coach has not ruled out the arrival of a new striker
Chelsea are still trying to improve on Mykhaylo Mudryk’s performance. New manager Enzo Maresca admits that the Ukrainian winger has problems making decisions in the attacking third of the pitch. Maresca spoke about Mudryk’s inconsistency after Chelsea’s recent 2-0 win over Servette in the Conference League qualifiers. “Sometimes he has good moments, but then it’s like flipping a coin. You don’t know what to expect from him,” Maresca said.

Mykhaylo Mudryk came to Chelsea in 2023 for 70 million euros, specifically from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Ukrainian outfit could also come in for another 30 million in potential bonuses.
Only, the 23-year-old winger hasn’t managed to perform to his liking so far after moving to Stamford Bridge. And not just his. The London club’s management, including the head coach, are also quite unhappy with him.
In fact, Enzo Maresca has stated that the main problem does not lie in his technical ability. In fact, Mudryk shone very solidly at Shakhtar, where he simply showed what he has. However, the Chelsea coach noted that his problem lies in decision-making.
“Most of the mistakes that Misha makes are not about technique, but about decisions,” said Maresca, quoted by ESPN.
Maresca is working with Chelsea to improve his
Maresca also stressed that the club is working to improve Mudryk’s consistency. “If he becomes more consistent, he can take a step further. We will try to help him change that,” he said. The club believes that with better decision-making, especially in the final third of the field, Mudryk can fulfill his potential.
Madueke’s future
The head coach of the famous English team also commented on the future of another Chelsea winger, Noni Madueke. According to Maresca, Madueke is an important player but he also needs to work on his performance. “He must understand that it is important to be consistent in every training session,” he said.
Maresca did not rule out the possibility of a new striker arriving before the transfer window closes. “If we find a player who will improve us, we will go for it,” Maresca concluded. Among other things, Chelsea have another Premier League game against Wolverhampton.
