England vs. Denmark: preview and betting tips
England has been waiting for an international trophy since 1966. And many English people believe this is their chance. The home environment and the unformed favourites are helping.
England has been waiting for an international trophy since 1966. And many English people believe this is their chance. The home environment and the unformed favourites are helping.
Before the tournament, France, Portugal and Belgium were named as some of the favourites to win the Euros. The former two crashed out in the eighth round, the Belgians packed up after the quarter-finals. Neither Germany, the Netherlands or Croatia are continuing in the tournament.
This presents an incredible opportunity for England to reach the final. She did have to deal with Germany in the eighth round, but the quarter-finals threw Ukraine to her and she will face Denmark in the semi-finals.
In addition, Albion has a huge home advantage throughout the tournament. Out of the 5 matches played so far, it has played 4 at home at Wembley, where it will also play the semi-final. And the final will be played nowhere else but at Wembley in London.
The Danes are having an emotional tournament. In the first match they had to recover from the shock of the collapse of teammate Christian Eriksen, had zero points after two rounds and were one step away from elimination. But in the last game they smashed Russia and secured their qualification to the knockout fights.
There they first beat Wales and then the Czech Republic. The semi-final is a great achievement for the confident Danes, but they certainly want more. The team is perfectly assembled and the final is a big dream.
But England will probably not miss out on a win at home. They have to make one last push before the final, where they would face one of the giants, with Italy or Spain waiting for them.
