The Euro U21 final is scheduled for Saturday. England will take on Italy, with neither team having lost in the tournament so far. Will the best offense or defense of the tournament win? What to expect and what to bet on?
England are the complete uniqueness of the tournament, only winning their way through the competition so far. In the group stage, they went 2-0 down three times (Czech Republic, Israel, Germany), then defeated the strong Portuguese 1-0, and in the semi-final they beat the Israelis again 3-0.
Spain is making its fans a bit more tense. They dominated the group with seven points from wins over Romania and Croatia, plus a draw with Ukraine, then knocked out the Swiss in extra time and then went over Ukraine 5-1 in the semi-finals.
England’s key figures
Albion rely on Morgan Gibbs-White, the Wolverhampton midfielder has scored once and assisted three times. Manchester City’s hope Cole Palmer was the man behind their progression to the final, scoring once and assisting twice.
Spain’s key figures
Spain also have a Citizens striker who also didn’t make much of an impact in the AFC Championship. Sergio Gomez scored three times and assisted twice in the tournament. Betis Sevilla left back Juan Miranda has already scored two goals at the championship.
Betting tip
England stand on a solid defence, they have not scored once during the five games of the tournament so far, on the other hand they have not met a team in really good form. In this regard, the Spaniards have played twice against a rampant Ukraine.
And the Spaniards will be the first real test, as they have sovereignly the best attack of the tournament. They have already scored 13 goals, an average of 2.6 per game. Only against Croatia have they scored less than twice.
Considering the excellent performance of Spain’s offensive in the semi-final, the general productivity of their selection and the fact that no one has realistically tested England yet, it is safe to assume that the Spanish will celebrate.
