The Harry Kane transfer saga has reached its final denouement. It has been ended by the player himself. On his Twitter account, he confirmed his stay in a Tottenham jersey. Manchester City will have to look elsewhere.

Harry Kane was a clear transfer target for Manchester City. The defending champions are missing a typical finisher after Aguero’s departure, Guardiola still has Jesus, but he is not that productive. So a bet on one of the best strikers in the world was the obvious choice.

Negotiations for the transfer of Kane lasted practically the entire transfer window. As it is known, Tottenham owner Daniel Levy is a very tough negotiator and it is not easy to reach a mutual agreement with him. Especially when it comes to his team’s best player.

The Citizens management was very keen on the arrival of this player. First they sent an offer of 120 million euros, then they wanted to add Laporte or Jesus. Tottenham firmly rejected this offer. The second offer was even more generous. 150 million euros. Spurs’ position remained unchanged. Kane is unsellable for that amount, we want him to stay.

The English cannonballer was in favour of leaving. A player of his quality always has only the highest ambitions and at a club like Tottenham he will probably never fulfil them. He was relying on a supposed gentleman’s agreement that was supposed to have taken place at the last contract renewal.

However, Levy did not agree to that deal. In protest of this decision, Kane decided to sulk for a while. It didn’t last long, however. It was clear that he wouldn’t change the club’s decision, he would only antagonize the fans and his reputation would be quite tarnished.

That’s why he eventually backed down from his original plan and decided to stay. He will stay at Spurs for at least one more year, he confirmed on his official Twitter account. Tottenham have made a great start to the new season, they have a new coach with a clear vision. In a year’s time, the situation regarding Kane may be completely different.

Harry Kane’s statement:

“It was unbelievable how I was received by our fans on Sunday. Their support has been great over the last few weeks. I’m staying at Tottenham for this season. I am 100% focused on achieving the best possible team success,” Kane said on Twitter.

The English sharpshooter is a Tottenham club legend. He scored 221 goals in 337 games for the London club. But he has never won a major trophy.
