Five first round matches will be played on Tuesday afternoon and one of them will be the duel between Emma Raducanu and Daria Kasatkina. Who will be the victor?
Emma Raducanu is a 19-year-old tennis player originally from Great Britain. She is currently ranked 67th in the WTA rankings, with a career high of 10th.
The drop in the rankings was mainly due to Raducanu’s failure to defend her triumph at the 2021 US Open. This year, she crashed out in the first round against French opponent Alize Cornet after 3::6 and 3::6 sets.
The fact that she has more losses than wins on her record in the 2022 calendar year is a testament to her lack of success. Since January, she has managed to play 35 competitive matches, leaving the court as a loser eighteen times.
On Tuesday, she will face 25-year-old Russian Daria Kasatkina. The latter, on the other hand, is having a very successful season, which is reflected in her ranking. She currently occupies the eleventh position in the WTA rankings.
This year, she has already managed to win 35 matches, triumphing at the tournaments in San Jose and Granby. If she can finish this season well, she will qualify for the Tournament of Champions, which is always played by the top eight tennis players of the past year (she is currently ranked seventh).
Kasatkina has been putting in great performances in recent months, but now has had a break of over a month. This raises Raducanu’s chances of advancing, but she is not doing too well, so she will enter Tuesday’s event as an underdog.
