Emil Ruusuvuori is a 23-year-old tennis player originally from Finland. He is currently ranked 52nd in the ATP rankings. His career high is 42nd place, where he was in July this year.
Ruusuvuori’s biggest successes have been on hard surfaces, where he has a record of 20 wins and 16 defeats this year. In Stockholm, he had no major problems with Joao Sousa in the first round after 6:3 and 6:2 sets.
His opponent on Thursday will be only 20-year-old Jiri Lehecka, the current Czech number one. He is currently ranked 77th on the ATP rankings, but back in August he was ranked 59th.
The native of Mladá Boleslav has dominated one tournament this year, on home soil. He defeated Alvarez Verona from Spain in the final at the challenger in Liberec and after 6::4 and 6::4 he could celebrate his first trophy this year.
In the first round in Stockholm, he claimed one of the most valuable scalps of the 2022 calendar year, defeating sixth seed Grigor Dimitrov after a 145-minute battle. Lehecka put in a very good performance, recording 32 winning balls and only 19 unforced errors.
Ruusuvuori is the odds-on favorite to advance to the top eight. This is undoubtedly due to their first match in September, when the Finn won both sets 6:4. However, if Lehecka follows up his performance on Tuesday, he can definitely win at least one set.
