Embiid breaks the 50-point mark for the second time this season
In the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Minnestota Timberwolves (127:113). Joel Embiid, the best scorer of the last two seasons, dominated again. He scored 51 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. He did it in just 36 minutes on the floor.
For the second time this season, he broke the 50-point mark and did it for the seventh time in his career, which puts him at 15th place on the historical charts. Philadelphia was in control of the entire game, Embiid was joined by Tyrese Maxey, the 76ers’ star of the season, who scored 35 points.
In addition, Embiid scored at least 30 points and 10 assists for the 12th consecutive game. This is the longest streak since the 1971/72 season, when the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it in 16 straight games for the Milwaukee Bucks.
To make matters worse, Embiid went over 40 points and 10 rebounds for the third consecutive game.

With this performance, Embiid has secured the lead in the scorers’ chart, as he is averaging 34.4 points per game so far. Luka Doncic is second with 3.9 points per game. In third position is the ageless three-time league leading scorer Kevin Durant with 31 points per game.
The 76ers’ shooting guard is on pace to be the top scorer for the third straight season, which was just last accomplished by Phoenix Suns workhorse Kevin Durant from 2009 to 2012.
