1.period
The start of the 1st period was quiet. Edmonton threatened in the 3rd minute when a shot from the blue line was crossed by Zach Hyman and the bar rang behind David Rittich for the first time in the game.
The score didn’t change until the 11th minute. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins made a quick transition to the offensive zone, sent the puck to the front of the net and Evander Kane was there to send the home team into the lead.
The Kings tied the game with 28 seconds left in the period. The puck, which Skinner was driving behind the net, bounced off the edge of the boards in the corner and into the empty net, leaving Alex Laferriere with a tough job.
2.period
Where Los Angeles left off in the 1st period, it began the 2nd. Andreas Englund sent the puck to a streaking Blake Lizotte in the 3rd minute, the American forward didn’t wait for anything and fired an uncatchable shot from the right circle to put the Kings up 1: 2.
A few minutes later, however, the visitors offered the Oilers a power play. After a combination of Bouchard and McDavid, Leon Draisaitl tied the score with a hard shot. At first it looked like a great save by Rittich, but the video referee saw the puck all the way in the net and the goal was awarded after review.
By the end of the period, the Oilers had pulled within two goals. First, in the 13th minute, McDavid again offered Draisaitl a delicate pass and the German cannoneer made no mistake. A minute before the end of the 2nd period Bouchard’s shot was crossed by Hyman and increased the score to 4:2.
3.period
Los Angeles, despite a lot of pressure at the end of the game, could only manage to reduce the deficit with 2 minutes left. The Swedish forward scored his 4th goal of the series, but did not prevent his team from being eliminated.
