Newcastle is entering a new era after being taken over by a new extremely wealthy owner. But in order to buy proper stars, he must first save himself in the Premier League. New coach Eddie Howe is already drawing up plans for who to bring to St James’ Park.
Newcastle’s season is certainly not going to plan. The Magpies are second to last in the table with 5 points after 11 rounds. They are 5 points behind Watford in first place.
Newcastle have not experienced the feeling of victory even once this season. They have only 5 draws and 6 defeats. Steve Bruce has already been sacked and Eddie Howe has now taken his place.
The former Bournemouth coach has the task to stabilize the Magpies in the Premier League and in the future, with a large capital of leadership, to shoot Newcastle a few rungs higher in the table. But to do that, he needs to keep the north of England side in the league. And to do that, according to the Sun, he should have picked a few reinforcements to break down the doors of the cabinet in January.
Jesse Lingard
The Manchester United midfielder is not having a good autumn after returning from his loan spell. He doesn’t get many opportunities in the Red Devils’ packed midfield, making only five Premier League appearances, not even once in the starting line-up and three times for less than 11 minutes.
the 28-year-old spent the spring on loan at West Ham last season and the engagement in London worked out beautifully for him. He scored 9 goals and added 4 assists in 16 games and returned to the England national team. This could be the reason why he might want more game practice before the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and that is exactly what Newcastle would offer him.
Donny van de Beek
Another Manchester United midfielder who is struggling with his playing load. His move to Old Trafford is quite incomprehensible in hindsight, to the point where it almost seems like Solskjaer has a problem with him. Although van de Beek has been in Manchester for 14 months, he has only appeared in the Premier League starting line-up four times.
He cost the club’s coffers £40 million but has never been given a proper opportunity. Howe, for whom he would be a key player, would certainly not have the same attitude towards the Dutchman. Manchester United would certainly accept a smaller sum than what van de Beek was brought in for.
Niklas Süle
Howe will definitely have to improve Newcastle’s defensive performance, which has capitulated 24 times in 11 duels. And that could be taken care of by Bayern Munich giant Niklas Süle. According to several sources in England, Newcastle are already in contact with Süle’s representatives and the player himself would not be averse to a move to St. James’ Park.
Tyrone Mings
Another stopper who could bolster The Magpies’ defensive ranks. The Aston Villa captain has so far remained well behind expectations with his total, the Villains have failed to come to terms with the departure of Jack Grealish and are only 16th with a mere two points ahead of the relegation places.
Howe worked with Mings back at Bournemouth, so it’s quite possible that he may want to renew the partnership. Given Newcastle’s long-term project, it is likely that Mings could give the nod to the offer.
Newcastle will be linked with plenty of names, both real and fantasy, in the days and months ahead. Such as when news emerged of interest in Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, who has made it clear on several occasions that he wants to end his career at the Spanish big club.
Anyway, the Strak fans definitely have something to look forward to, as some well-known names are sure to arrive at St. James’ Park.
