And it’s official! Until now, it was only speculation, but now it’s clear. World renowned journalist Ariel Helwani and fighter Jiri Prochazka announced when we will see the first title defense of the Moravian UFC champion.
Everything could have been completely different, however, as Jiri Procházka wished, it will happen. For one thing, he was originally supposed to have a completely different challenger, as the UFC promised a title fight to Magomed Ankaleov, but he will end up facing Jan Blachowicz.
Blachowicz wanted a title fight too, he’s been egging on Prochazka for a long time. But the Moravian decided he wanted a rematch with Glover Teixeira. The reason? He wasn’t satisfied with his performance and he wants to show that he is a deserved welterweight champion.
However, Teixeira was not easy to deal with. He wanted to fight in Brazil, which is scheduled for early next year, but Procházka did not agree to it. Recently, then, Procházka’s coach Martin Karaivanov hinted that a tournament in Australia next year might work out.
But everything is different in the end. Procházka will face Teixeira this year. Mark the date of December 10 on your calendar, and specifically the UFC 282 tournament hosted by Las Vegas.
In addition to journalist Ariel Helwani, Procházka himself shared the date of the fight. So there is a lot to look forward to. In addition, in just one month, Tereza Bledá will make her first appearance in the UFC.
