After the successful FIFA series, we are close to a new era of football games from Electronic Arts. On Monday, the world got its first glimpse of the first trailer for EA Sports FC 24, which invites us into the next generation club. It promises heightened quality and authenticity that will completely immerse us. An unusual feature of the new cover is that each player is depicted as an avatar from EA FC 24, instead of a real photo.
This new football game from Electronic Arts represents a major change, as for the first time in almost 30 years it does not bear the name FIFA. In the past, Electronic Arts has worked directly with the International Football Association, FIFA.
However, disagreements arose during negotiations for a new contract. FIFA wanted $1 billion for the FIFA name over four years, which EA refused. The money saved was then presumably invested in other marketing activities.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino later stated that they were already working with a number of studios on their own game.
Welcome to EA Sports FC 24!
The first trailer brings us into the EA Sports FC 24 club, where we have the opportunity to be part of the creation of new historic moments. Although we won’t see actual gameplay footage yet, the trailer gives us some interesting information.
The game runs on the Frostbite engine, which ensures a smooth and visually appealing gaming experience. The star of EA Sports FC 24 is Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who shone in the jersey of England’s Manchester City last season.
Fans don’t have to wait much longer, as EA Sports FC 24 is scheduled for release on September 29, 2023. The game will be available not only for the current console generation, but also for the older generation and, of course, for PC gamers.
Players look like Sims
The cover features 31 male and female players depicted as their virtual avatars straight from the game. The football players on the cover include Erling Haaland, Vinicius Junior, Sam Kerr, David Beckham, Pele, Zinedine Zidane, Rudi Voller, Andreas Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Johan Cruyff and Didier Drogba.
Although the cover of the EA FC 24 Ultimate Edition features an interesting mix of players, some of the faces on it raise question marks. The appearance of some of the male and female footballers is not entirely accurate and in many cases worse than in previous years.
Some of the players on the cover look like characters from the famous game series The Sims, also published by Electronic Arts. Andrea Pirlo in the top right corner, with a look that could only be described as stern.
At first glance, these faces aren’t that bad, but you only have to zoom in and watch them for more than five seconds to realize that there’s something wrong with them. Let’s hope, then, that EA FC 24 itself is better than the cover art.
