Dynamo Kyiv will be looking for their first Europa League group points on Thursday when they welcome Larnaca. What to expect from the Ukrainian vice-champion’s match against AEK and what to bet on?
Dynamo’s start to the season is not going as expected. They opened the group stage with a loss to Fenerbahce Istanbul, only won for the first time in the league at the weekend and are seven points behind first place with a game to spare.
Larnaca, meanwhile, is not satisfied either. Qualifying for the group itself is a success, but losing to Rennes at the start, plus the league scene is also on fire. Up to sixth place and five points behind the top two teams in the table.
Ukrainian international Vitaliy Buyalskyi has been in excellent form since the start of the season, the offensive midfielder has scored three times and assisted three times. Long-time mainstay Viktor Tsygankov scored two goals and assisted twice.
The Dynamo are not doing well defensively, scoring more than once in four of their last five games. On the other hand, it has a hard time, it can’t rely on its home environment, as it obviously doesn’t play its games in Kiev with the current situation.
Larnaca, on the other hand, is not doing well in attack, scoring more than once in three of the last four games, and winning only one of those four contests. Outside its stadium, it has not done well, winning only one of the last six away encounters.
Given the experience of big games and the form and individual quality of Buyalskyi, I expect Dynamo to win. I also trust the home side because they finally kicked on with their first league win of the season at the weekend.
