Three Champions League qualifiers are scheduled for Wednesday, one of which will see Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv welcome Portugal’s Benfica Lisbon. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Dynamo Kyiv have already beaten Fenerbahce Istanbul from Turkey and then Sturm Graz from Austria. The league hasn’t been played in Ukraine since February due to the Russian invasion, yet the home side are certainly in decent form.
Benfica did not give Danish Midtjylland a chance in the third preliminary round and after 4-1 and 3-1 wins, the team made it through to the last round. They started on the league scene with two wins, during which they did not score once.
Right back Oleksandr Karavaev has been a big support for the home side in the prelims, with the national defender scoring twice. Viktor Tsygankov, the team’s long-time star, scored once and assisted once from the wing.
Forward Gonçalo Ramos has been in excellent form since the start of the season, with the Portuguese U21 international netting four times and assisting three times. Twenty-one-year-old Argentine central midfielder Enzo Fernández has netted three goals.
Dynamo are doing well in terms of results, but not in terms of goals. They have scored more than once in only two of their last seven games.
Benfica, on the other hand, is on a roll at home and in Europe, striking more than twice in eight of their last nine games.
Given Benfica’s excellent attack and its very wide squad, I think it will win in Kiev.
