David Dvořák scored his second defeat in a row. In the UFC he lost to Angolan Starboy Manel Kape, who won on points. But he came close to stopping Dvorak late in the first round when he nearly broke his arm.

David Dvorak was close to a title shot, but then he succumbed to Matheus Nicolau and it was clear he would have to wait for it. Then he got an opponent who was a real challenge.

Manel Cape was the favourite and showed it from the first minutes. The former Rizin champion liked Dvorak’s hand at the end of the first round in a way that wasn’t pretty to look at at all.

Despite the immense pain, Dvorak held on until the bell and then completed the remaining rounds. However, he could not use his arm much. Kape now spoke of how he would have broken it if he had wanted to.

“I was at the stage where I was really breaking his arm. But David literally showed the heart of a lion. He was just determined to put himself out there. He’s got an incredible warrior’s soul. He made it clear he didn’t want to lose the fight for anything. He’s a tough guy, and of course he paid the price.

I caught it really well. I have to admit, I didn’t push it because I’m not here to hurt anybody unnecessarily. David’s got family and people around him, so I didn’t push it unnecessarily.

I could have put my hands lower, which would have increased the pressure and leverage, so it would have hurt a little bit more. I could have broken his arm, but I didn’t need to. There was no need to go to the extreme. David has another career ahead of him, and I don’t have to ruin it.

I believed I could win without the kimura. We matched up in the first round and I just knew. When you’re facing another fighter like that, you just feel it. I knew I was faster and stronger. So there was no need to break his arm unnecessarily and take it home,” he said at the press conference.

If that’s true, there’s nothing to do but bow down to Kap. He really enjoyed the fight, kept doing all sorts of shenanigans in the third round and in the end was able to rejoice in the victory.
