Although the Dutch Grand Prix was once again won by Max Verstappen and on paper it looked clear-cut, the fans were certainly not bored during the race.
And that was whether it was due to the changeable conditions, the amazing atmosphere created by the fans or the few battles on track.
Only 59 of them were seen on the TV broadcast, but according to a regular contributor on Reddit, who scores the number of overtaking manoeuvres every race, the Dutch Grand Prix had a record number of 188 overtaking manoeuvres!
The previous record holder was the 2016 Chinese Grand Prix, where a total of 170 overtakes were counted.
Round 3 of the Dutch Grand Prix then saw a total of 61 overtaking manoeuvres, which is also a new Formula 1 record in terms of overtaking manoeuvres per lap. The previous record was held by the 2007 European Grand Prix with 45 overtakes on the second lap.
Verstappen wins, a huge success for Alpine
Verstappen is the winner of the Dutch Grand Prix. The Dutch driver won for the ninth time in a row, equalling Sebastian Vettel’s record from the 2013 season.
Fernando Alonso took second place, while Pierre Gasly was also on the podium thanks to his third place. Formula 1 has now had nine drivers on the podium this season.
