Dustin Poirier once again defeated the Irish star – Conor McGregor. The world’s most famous MMA fighter lost due to a serious injury, his ankle was badly twisted at the end of the first round and now he has to undergo surgery.
Conor McGregor’s third fight with Dustin Poirier is over! And now Poirier is in the lead as he won his second fight, but this time due to McGregor’s injury.
It happened at the end of the first round when the Irish fighter stepped and his ankle got badly sprained. He now has to have surgery and will take a break from MMA for a while.
What did Poirier, who so emphatically asked for a title shot, have to say about the fight? “I think he hurt his leg early in the round when I landed one of his kicks. Something broke there at that moment and then it showed,” he said.
“It was right at the beginning when I pointed at him because I felt something was wrong. He was kicking me really hard. I think he picked up on it at that moment and then when he was dialling in to throw a punch, that’s when the worst happened,” he added.
He then went on to talk about the shake, in which IR had no inhibitions. “There are not many boundaries within trashtalk, but when you threaten someone with death, it’s over the line. He kept talking about how he was going to literally kill me and how I was going to leave the octagon in a coffin. You don’t say that. But I hope he gets healthy to his beautiful family,” he finished.
Some claim that McGregor’s injury is karma, just because of the words the Irish fighter utters before almost every fight.
