Doubles at Rolland Garros without Czech participation, Muchova also quits
Unfortunately, the doubles at the French Open no longer has a Czech cast. After the sixth day of play Karolína Muchová withdrew from the tournament, having abandoned her match with Amanda Anisimová. An ankle injury is to blame.
Unfortunately, the doubles at the French Open no longer has a Czech cast. After the sixth day of play Karolína Muchová withdrew from the tournament, having abandoned her match with Amanda Anisimová. An ankle injury is to blame.
Muchová was the last Czech representative in singles, but she is also out of the tournament in France. Our tennis player had a very well played match, but then everything was ruined by a twisted ankle, which she injured after a fall.
After the treatment Muchová managed to continue the match, but after seven lost games in a row she finally stopped the match and Anisimova won 2: 1 in sets (6::7, 6::2 and 3::0).
The native of Olomouc was treated after the first set, which lasted almost an hour and a half.
Muchova had her left thigh bandaged, and the match against Anisimova was a great spectacle and a tough fight for progression in the first part.
The Czech tennis player even had a break advantage in the first set, but she could not take advantage of it even once. But in the tiebreak she turned the unfavourable situation from 6::7 to 9::7 and won the first set.
In the second set, Anisimova took a somewhat quick lead, winning two games in a row. Muchová completely reduced her lead, but then came the fall, after which the Olomouc native injured her ankle.
Despite her best efforts and despite the obvious pain, she wanted to finish the match, preferably to break on her side. However, after losing 2::6 in the middle set and after losing three games in the third set, she decided to call it quits.
At least Hynek Barton and Julie Struplova qualified for the main competition. The former defeated Thomas Faurel of France comfortably 2: 0 in sets (6: 2 and 6: 1). Štruplová also won against Paukstyte of Lithuania 2: 0 in sets (6: 4 and 6: 3).
