Dortmund vs. AC Milan: Preview and betting tips
Both Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have been in pretty good form recently, but neither managed to win their opening game of the new Champions League season. This match will thus give a lot of hints about the ambitions of one or the other to qualify.
Both Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have been in pretty good form recently, but neither managed to win their opening game of the new Champions League season. This match will thus give a lot of hints about the ambitions of one or the other to qualify.
Dortmund have won their last two league games against Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim. However, they lost the match against PSG 2-0 and so the German side needs to start picking up points. Group F is clearly the group of death and any loss will be fatal.
Even AC Milan managed to win their last league games, specifically beating Verona, Cagliari and Lazio after a goalless draw with Newcastle. Moreover, in these 4 matches, the Italian side only conceded once.
Interestingly enough, we might see a line-up on the pitch, with the away team being much younger, which is certainly not usual given the past. The average age of Borussia’s expected line-up is 27.7 years, while Milan’s is 25.9.
The favourite for this duel will be the home side Dortmund, but not clearly, as the odds are set at around 2.4.
So we have to find some value in this pick. However, AC Milan is definitely not a team that would go to Dortmund for a defeat, on the contrary, we can expect them to go for a win. After all, if they want to advance, there is nothing else left.
Moreover, Borussia has been cast as the biggest underdog in this group, which was confirmed in Paris. If it loses to AC as well, its situation would already be very complicated.
Also from this point of view, it will certainly be interesting to see how Dortmund will do. However, to predict the winner of this match is, in my opinion, very presumptuous. A bet on goals should be a better option.
