A wild opening
The home side Dortmund entered the match in a completely different way than in the first leg. Right from the start, he went alone and did not score Sabitzer’s goal. The start of the match was quite indicative of the future course.
Only a minute after Sabitzer’s chance, Morata ran in alone on goal. The Spaniard, however, with his lob threw everything in his way. The ball did not end up in the net.
In the next 10 minutes, Brandt had a good chance. His shot from inside the penalty area was aimed at the left post, but Oblak was quick to intervene. The visiting goalkeeper kept his team’s hopes alive.
5 minutes like a dream
The fans at Signal Iduna Park were treated to a goal in the 34th minute. Hummels found Brandt with a beautiful cross from the shaytli, who won the second duel with Oblak with his shot to the near post. The Slovenian goalkeeper may not have a clear conscience.
A few minutes later, Dortmund were even more cheerful. Maatsen collided with Sabitzer on the left wing, fearlessly dribbled into the penalty area and shot past Oblak for the second time without a contest.
Atletico Madrid’s first half didn’t go well at all. Morata had the only chance and that was all we could see from the visiting team. Dortmund’s deep block was too much to overcome and the 2nd half must have been very different from the Spanish side.
On the other hand, Dortmund will be at a mental advantage. To turn the score around in the first act? Even the biggest Dortmund fan probably didn’t imagine this scenario. If the yellow and black perform the same way in the rest of the match, they must advance.
