Don’t expect a goal every minute from me now, Wallem laughed. He wasn’t even supposed to get on the field

One of the summer reinforcements Conrad Wallem was still waiting for his debut in the red and white jersey. It came a bit unexpectedly in the important preliminary round against Dnipro-1, but the Norwegian midfielder rewarded with a goal right after one minute.
The 23-year-old midfielder has a great potential for growth, and the Norwegian Odd was finally softened up by a €1.5 million fee.
Wallem made his first appearance against Podbrezova, but then got injured and missed the end of the preparation and the start of the season. He was on the bench for the first time on Sunday against Zlín, but did not play.
He was also nominated for the match against Dnipro-1, but originally he was not supposed to take the field. But when Igoh Ogbu got a red card, the coaches eventually pointed to him.
“Honestly it wasn’t even the plan that he would go into the game. It wasn’t even the first choice in the substitution. We were arguing about two players who could replace Venca, but suddenly I was told that this was the match for him. He’s new, he has no experience and it’s a risk, but by going to ten we thought he could help us a lot,” explained coach Jindřich Trpišovský at the press conference.
But Wallem had a dream debut. He came on the field together with Chytil and immediately scored the third goal. Chytil worked a centred ball into the box, Wallem rushed to it and, after a minute on the pitch, fired it into the net in front of a packed Tribuna Sever. A dream debut.
“Absolutely incredible feeling. The fans have been great, they’ve been driving me and the whole team since the warm-up. I’m very happy that I could contribute with a goal. It was simply a dream debut. What’s going to happen is going to happen, but don’t expect a goal from me every minute (laughs). Of course I’ll try to add some more,” Wallem said in an interview with the club’s website.
The Norwegian midfielder thus experienced a great feeling for every player immediately after his arrival on the pitch, with the sold-out stadium screaming his name.
“They are unreal. A lot of them wrote me messages of encouragement, they greeted me in the street. I feel like I’m part of one big family. The support from the fans is incomparable to anything I’ve experienced so far. They deserve my huge thanks,” Wallem added enthusiastically.
