Luka Doncic became the ninth player in NBA history to surpass the 70 career triple-doubles mark. Dallas, however, fell to Indiana on their home floor. Alperen Sengun helped Houston knock off San Antonio with the performance of a lifetime.

Doncic had a great performance, but it wasn’t enough to win for Dallas

In the Dallas Mavericks vs Indiana Pacers (120:137), Luka Doncic, the best scorer of the season, had another great performance. He recorded his 14th triple-double of the season and 4th in a row with at least 30 points. This time he scored 39 points, rebounded 10 balls under the basket and dished out 11 assists.

This is already his 70th career triple-double, which only 9 players have done so far in the NBA. Moreover, he is only five short of James Hardens eighth, who has long since slowed down in triple-doubles. Eight more to the legendary Wilt Chamberlain.

But yet another great performance by the Slovenian star went to waste. Doncic was supported by the shooting duo of Irving and P.J. Washington, who combined for 43 points. That was not enough for a consolidated Indiana team.

The latter had nine players score in double figures, with Myles Turner scoring the most points (20). The Pacers led from the start of the game, with the victory decided in the third quarter, which they won by 14 points.

Alperen Sengun played the game of his life

In the game Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs (114:101), Turkish player Alperen Sengun excelled, his performance completely overshadowing San Antonio star Victor Wembanyama. Sengun became only the fifth man since 1973 to score 45 points, record 16 rebounds and 5 steals.

That didn’t work out at all for Wembanyama, who scored just 10 points in the game but confirmed with 7 blocks that he is unmatched in that department this season. Houston improved their record to 27-34 and the playoffs are not lost yet. It was San Antonio that notched its 49th defeat of the season against 13 winning duels.

Sengun managed this performance in nearly 37 minutes on the floor. In addition, he was supported on offense by Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green. They poured in another 44 points for San Antonio. Moreover, as mentioned, since the 1973-74 season only Anthony Davis has managed such a feat, who even recorded this statistic twice.

The other record holders are Joel Embiid, James Harden and John Drew. Sengun, in his third season in the NBA, continues his performance progression and is having the best season of his career so far.
