Donald Trump stands behind the LIV, with a statement about 9/11 he has angered the public. He enjoyed playing the field

LIV Golf is an organization that wants to make a big splash in world golf, helped by a two million dollar donation of public money from Saudi Arabia.
The very act of holding the event just 80 kilometres from where the world’s business centres once stood caused quite a stir in New Jersey, where the tournament was held at the Trump National Golf Club.
The course created by former US President Donald Trump is also known as the “Summer White House”. That’s because of how much time Trump spent there during his time in office as the so-called “most powerful man on the planet.”
The golf club in Bedminster was due to host the prestigious PGA Championship major earlier this year, but the US PGA organisation eventually moved the event to Oklahoma.
The reason was political repercussions, with the Trump administration facing criticism for siding with the Saudi kingdom and its de facto leader, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
But the largest active group of protesters before the tournament began were survivors of victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. “It is incomprehensible to us, Mr. Trump, that a former president of the United States would cast aside our loved ones for personal financial gain,” a group of protesters wrote in a statement.
But Donald Trump responded that no leads led investigators to believe that the Saudi government, which now funds LIV Golf, was behind the terror attacks. Despite evidence that the vast majority of the bombers came directly from that country, the Saudis are behind the golf project.
Then he added, “But I can tell you there are a lot of really great people here today and we’re going to have a lot of fun. And we’re going to celebrate,” he remarked on Thursday towards the Bedminster tournament. He particularly highlighted the efforts of the LIV Golf organisation by raising a lot of money for charity. He said it will attract all the world’s best players in the future.
TRUMP ENJOYED PLAYING THE COURSE
On the course during the exhibition Pro-Am tournament, he remarked towards LIV boss Greg Norman: “You guys are doing a great job.”
He then took to the course alongside two elite golfers, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau. “Nice shot, Mr. President,” one of them remarked. The mood on the course was good, and he heard several compliments from his fellow players on the green.
During the game, he was even asked if he was going to run for a return to the White House. To which Trump replied with a smile, “You’ll be so happy.” Along the way, the former president then stopped for photos with players, friends and volunteers, enjoying the attention.
Although the Pro-Am event was closed to the general public, the lack of fans didn’t bother Trump. “Itkeeps it so exclusive,” he said.
“I’ve known these people for a long time, they’ve been my friends for a long time. They have invested in many American companies. They own a large percentage of many, many American companies and frankly, what they do for golf is great. It’s great what they’re doing for the players. The salaries are going to go up a lot,” he said of the new golf venture.
