Djokovic and the bottle incident

You don’t see pictures like this very often. Novak Djokovic was hit by a bottle while leaving the court after winning his match. The culprit was a spectator whose bottle fell out of his backpack. You can see the whole situation here.

The most important fact remains that the world number one is fine. And true to his nature, Djokovic managed to react to the whole incident in a funny way.

Safety should always come first. The native of Belgrade will start his next fight at the Rome Masters today.

Potential opponents

Djokovic has a lot to build on in Rome. In the Eternal City, he has triumphed six times. The last time he won the title there was two years ago.

Last year, he surprised Daniil Medvedev here. But the Serbian tennis player can only face the defending champion in the final.

On Sunday, he will face Chile’s Tabilo. He is showing good results this year and his current 32nd position on the ranking is his best so far.

But the clear favourite will be Djokovic. If he advances, he would play the winner of the Cerundolo-Khachanov match.

In the quarter-finals, he could theoretically face American tennis hope Ben Shelton. The last year’s number one seed overcame him in three sets in the semi-finals of the US Open in Rome.

Djoker has been waiting an unusually long time for his first tournament triumph this year. Will he get it in Rome?
