The debates about the best tennis player in history are probably over after Sunday. Novak Djokovic won a gold medal at the Olympics to complete his collection. What is his next programme and when will it end?

  • Djokovic becomes the fifth tennis player in history to win the Golden Slam
  • Serbian never lost a set during the Olympics
  • The current world number two has no plans to end his career

Owner of 24 Grand Slam titles, seven-time Champions Tournament winner, Davis Cup winner and now Olympic gold medalist. Novak Djokovic completed his collection in Paris and plans to expand it in the years to come.

In the calendar year 2024, he waited an unusually long time for his first title. It came at the Stade Roland-Garros, which also meant Olympic gold.

Djokovic did not lose a single set on his way to the coveted goal, taking on Nadal, Tsitsipas and Musetti. In the final, he beat Carlos Alcaraz to improve his record to 4-3.

Djokovic completes his collection

The Serbian national player became only the fifth tennis player to complete the so-called Golden Slam. This means that during his career, in addition to all Grand Slam tournaments, a player also wins the Olympic Games. Before him, only Nadal, Agassi, Graf and Serena Williams have managed to do it.

“The Olympic Games are held once every four years, so to win a gold medal for your country is very rare. I knew I was 37 years old, so I didn’t have many chances,” Djokovic revealed at the press conference.

But the current world number two certainly has no plans to quit just yet. He will play on the courts in Cincinnati as early as next week, after which he will next compete at the US Open, where he will defend last year’s title.

“I would love to play in Los Angeles in four years and represent my country again. But now I would like to live in the present and celebrate this moment,” concluded the 37-year-old tennis player.
