Everyone knows that Kylian Mbappe’s biggest football idol is Cristiano Ronaldo. That’s why the French striker surprised when he called Lionel Messi the best footballer in the world after the match against Brugge.

Mbappé has been a big fan of Real Madrid since he was a kid and also Cristiano Ronaldo. On the Internet, you can easily see photos of little Kylian’s room, which is covered with posters of Ronaldo in the White Ballet jersey.

Mbappé wanted to leave the royal club in the summer, which he admitted publicly, but the PSG management did not allow him to do so. Instead, they brought him the star of their biggest rival, Lionel Messi.

In the beginning, Mbappé’s relationship with Messi was cooler in public, he didn’t say much on the subject. However, a few months alongside the Argentine footballer seems to have taken his fancy.

In Tuesday’s match, the Parisians took on Bruges, the match ended in a 4-1 result. The first two goals were scored by Mbappé, the other two by Messi. And Mbappé had only words of praise for his older teammate after the match.

“It’s easy to play with Lionel Messi. He is the best player in the world. He won the Ballon d’Or a few days ago. Today he scored two goals, he is happy and I hope he will help us in the future,” Mbappé told reporters.

This is completely inconsistent with Mbappé’s previous statements when he claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best footballer in the world and in history.

Fans thus started to argue whether Mbappé had changed his mind or it was just a courtesy phrase, since he plays with Messi in the team and it would be strange if he claimed otherwise.

You can see the same example with Sergio Ramos. He has stood behind Cristiano Ronaldo his entire career, but once he plays on a team with Lionel Messi, Ramos believes he deserved it.
