Despite the win at Ballkani, Slavia’s promotion is far away! We were hoping for a different result. We have played our part, let’s see what it will be enough for, said Trpišovský

Slavia managed to win 1:0 on the hot Kosovo soil, the only goal of the match was scored by Ondřej Lingr. Despite the win, Slavia can’t be satisfied, however, as they missed out on promotion due to Sivasspor’s win over Cluj. What did coach Jindřich Trpišovský say after the match?
The match did not offer much footballing beauty. While Slavia dominated in the derby and constantly created chances, they looked outclassed in Kosovo and almost didn’t even win.
Luckily for them, Ondřej Lingr scored a goal at the end, and goalkeeper Ondřej Kolář made several good saves, without which there would have been no question of advancing.
“The match was difficult, the opponent has really good quality. They showed that they are good footballers. Ewerton and Usor helped us a lot, especially with individual penetrations, we created a number of standard situations, and then we scored from one of them.
Koli held us up fantastically, especially the first save was great. In the long setup the home team kicked long balls, but we managed to clear them and it ended 1: 0. We are happy for the win, it was a tough match,” said the coach of Slavia at the press conference.
Unfortunately, promotion is more distant than before the match. This is due to Sivasspor’s win over Cluj, which means that Cluj only need to beat Ballkani at home and they don’t have to look at the result of Slavia at all, as they have better mutual matches.
“Of course it’s not good news for us, but before the game we said we had to win our two games and make it six points. Then we can see what happens next. We got into that situation in the first four games, especially the double against Cluj.
Now all we can do is win, we’ve got 50% of it done, the other half is next week. Of course, Sivasspor winning is not good news, Cluj is strong at home, they have high quality players.
We have no choice but to win at home, to beat Sivasspor. That’s the only thing we can do. We were hoping for a different result, but that’s the reality. We have played our part, we will see what it will be enough for,” Trpišovský added.
There is nothing to do but hope for a surprise in Romania. However, it is very likely that the spring part of the European competitions will not concern our teams.
