UEFA Youth should soon know all the participants in the semi-final matches. The match between Dynamo Kiev and Sporting Lisbon will take place despite the ongoing war conflict, albeit on a neutral ground.

While war rages in their country, they are busily preparing for the peak of their youth careers. The Dynamo Kiev juniors, whose Champions League junior eight-final against Sporting Lisbon was postponed due to Russian aggression, will finally get the chance to take their team to the quarter-finals of this continental competition for the first time in history.

The men under 18 can still leave Ukraine today, and under these conditions the team is preparing in Romania, where they will play the match as the home team.

Dariusz Mioduski, vice-president of the European Club Association (ECA), spoke at the association’s general assembly about the important symbolism of Thursday’s match.

“The feeling among the clubs in the ECA and UEFA is that this is a very clear message, very anti-war and very pro-Ukraine,” the president of Poland’s Legia Warsaw told the BBC.

The match is scheduled for 7 April, with the match to be hosted by Stadionul Giuleşti – Valentin Stănescu in Bucharest. If the Ukrainian side manages to win, they would face the other team from Lisbon, Benfica, in the quarter-finals.

The winner of this quarter-final will face Juventus Turin from Italy in the Final Four tournament in Nyon.
