Dutch midfielder Donny Van de Beek is languishing at Manchester United. However, that could change if he goes on loan elsewhere. One such engagement is beginning to take shape.

When he joined the Manchester United squad in September 2020, many predicted a stellar future for him. Over time, he was expected to assume a key role among the midfielders and contribute to the Red Devils ‘ return to prominence.

It didn’t happen. Donny Van de Beek has wilted at Manchester United. He doesn’t get the confidence of the coaches, he doesn’t get many starts in the championship games, or only for part of the game. He lacks game practice, maybe even confidence. He was one of the biggest stars at Ajax. The hard knocks he faces in England would sway many another player.

In the year and a half that he has been wearing the Red Devils jersey, he has appeared in 50 games. It must be said, however, that he has played less than 1,850 minutes during them. A simple ratio can be used to arrive at the fact that, on average, per game, the Dutchman has kicked just over 35 minutes in any given encounter. Personal stats also speak for themselves – two goals scored, two assists. Poor.

However, shortly before the end of January, Donny Van de Beek’s name was mentioned in connection with a possible loan move during the winter transfer window. Fabrizio Romano is in the football agents’ environment and has relevant information. On his Twitter account on Tuesday, he came up with the information that Crystal Palace and Valencia are interested in the player.

Ralph Ragnick, Manchester United’s bench boss, doesn’t want to lose Van de Beek, so there is no danger of selling the Dutch midfielder in any case. The German coach is counting on him for next season. The question is whether Ragnick will still be the Red Devils‘ head coach next season, but let’s leave that for now.

In particular, Patrick Vieira, the Eagles manager, is said to be very interested in Van de Beek’s arrival. We’ll see how and if negotiations between the clubs continue at all.
