Delhi has ended its misery in Demirspor. He has gone on loan to Istanbul
Defender Simon Deli has yet to feature in a competitive game for Adana Demirspor this season. Coach Montella has been relying on other players since the beginning of the season and the Ivory Coast international has been quite rarely on the substitutes’ bench.
Defender Simon Deli has not yet started a competitive game for Adana Demirspor this season. Coach Montella has been relying on other players since the beginning of the season and the Ivory Coast international has been quite rarely on the substitutes’ bench. The thirty-one year old defender wanted to resolve his situation and find a club where he would have a game load. The former Slavia Prague defender got his wish and will even spend the season as a guest at Istanbulspor.
Deli transferred to Demirspor in the summer of 2021, where he headed from Bruges in Belgium. In his first season, he played in nineteen games and notched one assist.
This season, he has not added any starts since coach Montella stopped counting on the experienced defender. The former Slavia Prague defender was also rarely on the substitutes’ bench.
In the winter, he wanted to find a club that would offer him regular playing time and the favourite of the Prague Slavia fans has arrived. He will spend the spring part of the season as a guest in Istanbulspor.
The club from Istanbul is facing a fight for salvation in the Turkish Süper Lig in the spring, so it decided to strengthen its squad sufficiently in the winter. Twelve players, including Deli, have headed to Istanbulspor since January, which should help the club to save the top competition.
The Ivory Coast international should improve Istanbulspor’s defence and will definitely want to put in quality performances to claim a new deal.
At Adana Demirspor, Deli’s contract does not expire until next June, but the club are no longer counting on him. The club’s management is not going to prevent the incisive defender from leaving Adana in the summer.
