De Jong is running out of patience with Barcelona! His departure is on the cards
The cup of patience is beginning to run over. According to the Spanish media, Frenkie de Jong is running out of patience with Barcelona and is considering leaving the club due to low playing time.
The cup of patience is beginning to run over. According to the Spanish media, Frenkie de Jong is running out of patience with Barcelona and is considering leaving the club due to low playing time.
Frenkie de Jong is not having the happiest time in his career. He has dropped out of Barcelona’s starting line-up and so is currently plagued by very low minutes. However, he needs to play regularly himself due to his relatively young age.
The Dutchman himself knows this and is addressing the situation. According to the Spanish media, he is not happy that the 17-year-old Gavi is taking his place. He believes he has the ability to play regularly.
But he is not getting many opportunities from coach Xavi. In a very important game against Inter, for example, he came on for the final 27 minutes.
His difficult situation is fuelling speculation about his departure. De Jong had the option to leave before the start of the season, but decided to stay at the club despite all the disagreements with the management.
Manchester United were and still are interested in him. The disadvantage of the English team is the participation in the Europa League, however, after the draw with Inter, Barcelona is also close to this competition. The Europa League should not be an obstacle for de Jong.
Of course, it is also possible that the situation will turn around and de Jong will stay in Barcelona. After all, he is still a young player, whose absence could be regrettable for the Catalan club in the future.
The Dutch footballer should still get a chance to make his mark from Xavi. So far in the current campaign, de Jong has started seven league games, but has only played full minutes twice.
