De Gea will eventually be replaced by Pickford at Manchester United. Does the English goalkeeper deserve this chance?
Manchester United this summer will once again be dealing with the continuation of their long-standing number one, who last season showed a series of blunders that cost the club important points. In addition, David de Gea is on a huge salary which is likely to be a point of contention in new contract negotiations. It could come down to Jordan Pickford.

In addition, David de Gea is on a huge salary which is likely to be a point of contention in new contract negotiations. It could come down to Jordan Pickford.
The Mirror has reported that Manchester United are willing to offer Everton £45m for Pickford. However, everything is still open as the situation surrounding de Gea remains unsettled.
However, the English media, led by the aforementioned site, is leaning towards the two sides not agreeing on a new contract. In fact, the Red Devils are expected to take a significant cut in his salary.
According to the available information, de Gea, along with Erling Haaland, is the highest paid player in the Premier League after Kevin De Bruyne. However, his frequent gaffes have sparked debates whether he is still good enough to catch for a club that wants to fight for titles.
Pickford better than de Gea?
Even though we are talking about a goalkeeper who has captained the England national team for 53 games, he has not had a better engagement in his career so far than at Everton, with all due respect to the Liverpool club of course.
The Toffees, moreover, ran into big trouble when this traditional English outfit saw two big stars, Richarlison and Anthony Gordon, leave last season without adequate replacements.
The situation was rescued on January 30 by the experienced coach Sean Dyche, who finally managed to save the Premier League for the Liverpool fans.
However, now the English media is talking about the departure of another key player who has been charming in goal since 2017, when Everton brought him from Sunderland for less than 30 million euros.
Pickford has a lot of experience, having had some really big games at the age of 29, especially with the England national team. That will certainly be crucial in key duels in the title fight.
In addition, Pickford is very good at playing with his feet, which is where de Gea very often fails, and from which Manchester United consequently often concedes goals, but at the same time, the midfield and quick counter-attacks, which the club under Erik ten Hagem relies on quite a lot, also suffer.
At the same time, it should be mentioned that when the Spanish goalkeeper has his day, he is unbeatable on the goal line. However, Pickford is very capable in this respect as well and if he can deliver consistently good performances, it will definitely be a significant improvement for the club itself in the current situation.
