The Belgian has directly announced that he would surely earn an incredible amount of money in case of a commitment to the Saudi Pro League.
The experienced De Bruyne has already had a really solid career at the age of thirty-two. As perhaps already a Manchester City legend, he has achieved countless successes.
He has won six league titles in a Citizens jersey, triumphed in the English League Cup five times, and lifted the FA Cup winner’s trophy over his head twice. However, he didn’t win what was quite possibly his most valuable trophy until the end of the 2023/24 season, when he captured the Champions League with Manchester City.
De Bruyne has been playing football at a professional level for 15 years, with a year left on his contract at the reigning Premier League champions. That is, until the end of June 2025.
And of course, the question is whether he will continue at the English big club after that. Especially in the last season, the Belgian has been plagued by injuries.
De Bruyne will celebrate his 33rd birthday this summer, in nine years in Manchester he has played 382 matches, in which he scored 102 goals and 170 assists. Simply a club legend in the truest sense of the word. However, the Drongen native is starting to consider a move elsewhere, specifically to Saudi Arabia.
De Bruyne admits moving to Saudi Arabia
The Belgian has just admitted a move to the country in his recent interview with Het Laatste Nieuws. And this is logically in order to earn big money at the end of his active football career.
“A transfer to Saudi Arabia? At my age, you have to be open to everything. If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. I’ve been playing football for 15 years now and I haven’t seen such a huge sum yet,” said De Bruyne, whose words were also quoted by The Independent.
“I have to think about the future and my wife would have no problem with an exotic adventure. My eldest child is eight years old and only knows England. She also asks me how much longer I want to play for City. There will come a time when we will have to decide,” added the famous Belgian.
