Davies on his way out? Bayern boss reportedly postpones contract extension and awaits Real Madrid offer
Alphonso Davies is undoubtedly one of the best left backs in the world. Bayern Munich would definitely like to keep him for as long as possible, but it won’t be that easy, as the Canadian is reluctant to extend his contract.
Alphonso Davies is undoubtedly one of the best left backs in the world. Bayern Munich would definitely like to keep him as long as possible, but it won’t be that easy, as the Canadian is reluctant to extend his contract.
You would be hard pressed to find a faster defender, or even footballer, than Alphonso Davies. Rocket speed is the Bayern Munich left-back’s main asset, and he came from Canada as a left winger, so even attacking is not a problem for him.
Still only 22 years old, he still has a great future ahead of him, with 5 Bundesliga titles and one Champions League title already under his belt.
But he may not stay in Munich for much longer. Davies’ contract expires in June 2025, Bayern are trying to extend it early, but the Canadian is reportedly reluctant to sign a new deal.
According to Sportskeed, this is because he is waiting for an offer from Real Madrid. The royal club’s interest has been talked about before, as the left-back position desperately needs strengthening.
Ferland Mendy is the number one choice, but he is often plagued by health problems. When he plays, he is great defensively, but he won’t help the team much in attack and the club would prefer a more offensive midfielder like Marcelo.
Fran García has already returned from Rayo Vallecano for €5 million, but there is talk of a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia for Ferland Mendy and Real would certainly not resist selling him. He could then target Davies at that point.
Bayern certainly won’t want to lose their star for free for two years and with Davies reluctant to extend his contract, the Munich outfit have reportedly not rejected the sale.
