Boston Bruins beat Dallas 4:3 after a shootout. Czech canon David Pastrnak had a big part in it.He tied the game with his 35th goal of the season 105 seconds before the end of the game, where Charlie McAvoy decided the victory in the 9th series of shootouts.

An even first period

Jeremy Swayman got the nod in goal for the Bruins this time. Jake Oettinger came in for Dallas. In the opening period, the visiting team had the scoring advantage, but it was 1:1 on goals. It was obvious that two teams that are ranked second in their respective conferences played against each other.

Boston forward Jesper Boqvist was the first to score at the start of the 5th minute, only his second goal of the season. Charlie McAvoy, the late second hero of the game, scored the point on an assist. Jeremy Swayman capitulated 7 minutes later off the stick of Wyatt Johnston to set the final score of the first period.

Both teams entered the second period very sharply, with both goalies capitulating after just 92 seconds. Boston countered a goal by Stars veteran defenseman Ryan Sutter 28 seconds later with an equalizing goal by 26-year-old forward Justin Brazeau, who scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game.

Although Dallas had an overwhelming 24-13 shooting advantage in the second period, it did not outscore Swayman during that stretch of play. After 40 minutes of play, the game was tied again, with the home goalie having already made 34 saves.

In the 3rd period, it was turn by David Pastrnak

The great catching Jeremy Swayman capitulated for the 3rd time in the game in the 51st minute off the stick of another Stars defender Esa Lindell after a pass from Jason Robertson. After that goal, Boston started to employ Oettinger more shooting.

And the home team’s shooting activity paid off. David Pastrnak scored his 35th goal of the season with 105 seconds left after assists from captain Brad Marchand and McAvoy’s second point of the game. He became the 4th player this season to break the 80-point mark. He is one point out of 4th place in points behind 3rd place Connor McDavid.

No more goals in overtime. And then a penalty lottery ensued, which came down to the 9th of the series, when McAvoy converted the deciding shot. With this win, Boston moved back into first place in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the Florida Panthers.

Boston also snapped a four-game losing streak by beating a very strong Dallas team. The main contributors to Boston’s victory were Swayman, who scored 43 successful hits, Pastrnak, who took the game to overtime, and McAvoy, who scored two goals and converted the decisive shot.
