David Beckham gave an interesting interview to The Athletic in which he spoke on the subject of his future involvement with Manchester United as well as the departure of his current owners.

The former England footballer is currently enjoying the arrival of Lionel Messi to Inter Miami, a club he co-owns. David Beckham himself has described the Argentine footballer’s transfer as the biggest in American sporting history.

In an interview with The Athletic, he let it be heard that bringing Messi less than a year after winning the World Cup to a team that has only been in existence for three years is a huge achievement.

The Inter Miami co-owner and Manchester United icon also spoke on the subject of the English club’s current owners.

Beckham would like the lengthy process of selling the club, which the current owners have been announcing since last November, to be completed as soon as possible so that the club is no longer owned by the Glazer family.

I think so. It’s clear because the fans want it that way,” he said when asked if it was time for the current owners to leave the club. “Once you lose fans, especially at a club like Manchester United, it is very difficult to get them back,” the football icon continued.

Beckham praised the work being done by current coach Erik ten Hag. According to him, he had to make a lot of difficult decisions, but he managed to handle them very gracefully and even more so with the fans on his side. His arrival was like a breath of fresh air.

According to the English legend, the club needs a change of management because big investments are needed, whether it is in training facilities, stadium or players. The former footballer spoke highly of the work of rival Manchester City, which he used as an example of a great vision for the future.

It’s not just about trophies. You can see that Manchester City is looking to the future. They don’t go from season to season. With Pep Guardiola they have a stability that I dread,” he said.

Beckham would love to see the Red Devils back on top. He recalled the times during his tenure when the club won everything and everyone at Old Trafford wanted to play. Changes need to happen as soon as possible to get the club back to exactly where it was during his tenure and the days of Alex Ferguson.

The former footballer is currently only focused on his club and the happenings at Inter Miami. However, he let it be known that any future involvement at the club would mean a lot to him.

If he doesn’t get any such opportunity in the future, he would only remain a huge fan of the club and do what other fans do. He would support his club with all his might.
