There is only one match on the Australian Open singles schedule on Friday. It will feature world number four Daniil Medvedev and world number six Stefanos Tsitsipas. Who will enjoy advancing to the final?
Daniil Medvedev is currently fourth in the ATP rankings. His biggest achievement so far is his victory at the Tournament of Champions last year.
At the Australian Open, the twenty-five year old tennis player is presenting himself with handsome tennis. He has lost only two sets on the Melbourne courts – both to Krajinovic. He also took on Rublev and Pospisil.
His opponent on Friday will be Stefanos Tsitsipas. The 22-year-old Greek tennis player is ranked sixth in the ATP rankings. But if he manages to advance to the final, he would be ahead of the currently injured Federer.
Tsitsipas is also putting in a great performance at the first grand slam of the new season. This was confirmed by his duel with Nadal, in which he was already down 0:2 in sets. The Greek, however, turned the match around and became only the second tennis player to achieve a similar feat – the first being Fabio Fognini.
So what to bet on? Both players are in great form and I expect a very even match. It shouldn’t end after three sets. You can bet on it at odds of 1.54.
The statistics of the matches between the two teams are in favour of the Russian tennis player. However, more than a year has passed since the last meeting, during which Stefanos Tsitsipas in particular has seen a huge progress in his game.
Moreover, the aforementioned match with Nadal will be a mental boost for the Greek. He should be physically well prepared as well, since he did not have to play the eight-final match due to Berrettini’s injury.
There is a very tempting odds of 3.01 on Stefanos Tsitsipas, which in my opinion is at least worth a try. There is certainly not that much difference between these two tennis players.
Novak Djokovic will be waiting for the winner of the match in the final played at Rod Laver Arena. The Serb took on Ruslan Karatsev, the biggest surprise of the tournament, in the semi-finals.
