Daniel Křetínský wins the hearts of West Ham fans! What did he do?
Daniel Křetínský, a minority Czech owner, is working at West Ham London together with three Czech national team players. Since the arrival of Tomáš Souček in January 2020, the Czech enclave at the Hammers has expanded considerably. The Czech national players have more or less already won the hearts of the fans, but this time Křetínský has also scored.

It is a known fact at West Ham that the vast majority of supporters dislike owners David Sullivan and David Gold. Among them, relatively recently, is Daniel Křetínský, who has a stake of around 27% in the club.
Fans understandably imagine that the Czech businessman will pour huge funds into the club, which will be invested in transfers. West Ham do indeed have a lot of names in their sights, but will the club’s transfer policy change significantly? That is hardly to be expected.
The Hammers almost certainly won’t be able to wage price wars against the Premier League giants, but they should have a guaranteed financial cushion and will likely be picking up opportunities in the transfer market that bigger players aren’t grabbing.
So what has the Czech billionaire done to win over West Ham fans? On the club’s official supporters’ website, information has emerged that Kretinsky has donated £10,000 of his £10,000 to the seriously ill Isla Caton.
Isla Caton is a seven-year-old Hammers fan who is battling neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer. The fan community, including people at the club, have been fighting alongside Isla for a long time.
Members of the West Ham Family have been openly praising this donation on social media. Let’s hope this good deed is repaid as quickly as possible. The Hammers, led by “Czech Mates”, want to get back on the winning streak and they need sporting luck to do it.
